Description
A compact cluster of slender, translucent quartz crystals growing from a dark, chlorite-rich matrix. Their glassy surfaces contrast with the rough green-grey base, while epidote and small pyrite inclusions add subtle colour variation and metallic glints.
Lore
Ancient Greeks called rock crystal krystallos, believing it to be ice hardened by such intense cold that it had turned to stone, a belief later recorded by Pliny the Elder in his Natural History. In later divinatory traditions, crystal spheres were used to seek visions and knowledge of things hidden from ordinary sight. These traditions gave quartz enduring associations with clarity, insight and revelation.
